Anti-LNG Legislation Proposed in Maryland

The Baltimore Sun today reports on two Maryland House bills, House Bill 1670 and 1671, that attempt to vest siting authority over LNG facilities with the Maryland Public Service Commission. Both bills prohibit the construction or operation of an LNG facility without authorization from the MdPSC, and require that any LNG facility be located a minimum of two miles from any residence....

Analyst Says Construction Setbacks Could Cost LNG Supply

Dr. Gavin Law of Wood Mackenzie’s Global LNG group says construction delays on the supply side could create a shortage in 2008 and 2009. “[Delay of every project] is a doomsday scenario,” said Law. “But you can bet this is going to happen with some projects, and some could get delayed one year or more.” Read more in yesterday’s Platts LNG Daily....
