Former Tribal Leader Says LNG Terminal Can Ease Financial Difficulties

A former Passamaquoddy leader says that the tribe is approaching bankruptcy and that the Quoddy Bay LNG facility proposed for Split Rock can pull the members out of potential financial ruin. “We’re constantly on what I would say – on the edge of bankruptcy,” former Lt. Gov. Eddie Bassett said during a television program that was broadcast over the weekend. Bassett also criticized opponents of the proposal, who he says have started a “holy war” against LNG.
