Downeast LNG, sponsor of a proposed 3 million ton/year liquefaction and LNG import/export terminal near Robbinston, Maine, announced that the company will be put up for sale as of July 1, 2016. Eagle LNG announced that it has begun the construction process for a 200,000 gallons/day (87,000 gallons/day initially) natural gas liquefaction plant in West Jacksonville, Fla., which is anticipated to be operational by early 2017. The LNG will be used to supply Crowley’s new LNG-powered Commitment Class ships for trade between the U.S. mainland and Puerto Rico and also available for sale to both domestic clients in the southeast United States and Caribbean island customers looking for containerized LNG supply....

The JOVO Group and SCT&E LNG, Inc., announced today that they signed a long-term, multibillion-dollar agreement that they state “is a first of its kind between a U.S. LNG developer and a private Chinese LNG terminal owner.” According to the press release, the agreement provides for long-term offtake of LNG from the future SCT&E LNG export terminal to be built on Monkey Island in Cameron Parish, La., and a potential equity investment into the SCT&E LNG facility by the JOVO Group. The LNG supplies would be sent to markets in Southern China, primarily to the Guandong Province....

Driftwood LNG LLC and Driftwood LNG Pipeline LLC (together, Driftwood) have filed a request with FERC to initiate the pre-filing environmental review process for a 26 million tonnes/year LNG production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River near Carlyss, Calcasieu Parish, La. and an interconnected pipeline. The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy has released data covering U.S. LNG imports and exports for the First Quarter of 2016. The report shows that four vessel-borne commissioning cargoes of domestically-produced LNG, totaling 11.5 million Mcf, were exported from the Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, La. to Brazil, India and United Arab Emirates. The spot-purchased cargoes were sold at export point prices, also known as free on board (FOB) prices, ranging from $3.35 to $3.77/MMBtu. The Canadian Press reports that AltaGas Ltd’s joint venture partner, Idemitsu Kosan Co. (Idemitsu), stated in its recent annual financial report that it has suspended work on the proposed Triton LNG export terminal that was planned at Kitimat or Prince Rupert, British Columbia (B.C.). The joint venture also suspended work on its proposed Douglas Channel Project in B.C. this past February due to poor market conditions.
