Annova LNG Files Application for Brownsville Export Terminal

Annova LNG Common Infrastructure, LLC, and affiliates (Annova LNG) have filed an application with FERC to construct and operate mid-scale liquefaction and LNG export terminal facilities on the Brownsville Ship Channel in Cameron County, Texas.  The project will include six liquefaction trains, each with a nameplate capacity of 1.0 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), for an aggregate nameplate capacity of 6 mtpa and a maximum output at optimal operating conditions of 6.95 mtpa.  The facility will receive natural gas supply from a proposed third party-owned and operated intrastate pipeline...

FERC Releases Project Update for Port Arthur LNG Export Terminal

FERC has released an update on its review of Port Arthur LNG’s proposal to construct liquefaction, LNG export terminal and interconnected pipeline facilities at Port Arthur, Texas.  FERC is currently conducting its pre-filing environmental review process for the project and will provide comments to Port Arthur LNG on its revised Resource Reports 1 (General Project Description) and 10 (Alternatives).  Port Arthur LNG will incorporate the comments in the Resource Reports it will submit with its formal application for the project, which is anticipated to be filed in September 2016....

LNG Canada Delays FID for Proposed Kitimat B.C. Export Terminal

CBC News reports that LNG Canada has indefinitely delayed making a final investment decision (FID) on its proposed liquefaction and LNG export terminal near Kitimat, British Columbia (B.C.) due to global energy market conditions.  According to the report, LNG Canada CEO Andy Calitz recently told a conference that “the drop in natural gas prices around the world, particularly in Asia, has made the project too expensive for now.”  The company had announced that it would make an FID at the end of 2016.  LNG Canada is a joint venture of Shell Canada Energy (50%), an affiliate of Royal Dutch...

FERC Authorizes Increased Production at Freeport LNG Facility

FERC has issued an order authorizing Freeport Liquefaction to increase the authorized maximum peak day LNG production level at its liquefaction and export terminal facility under construction on Quintana Island in Brazoria County, Texas.  The facility was authorized to increase its production from 1.8 Bcf/day to 2.14 Bcf/day.  The increased production reflects the facilities’ actual capabilities.  Freeport Liquefaction did not propose any new facilities or construction activities.    ...

Driftwood LNG Files Draft Resource Reports

Driftwood LNG (DWLNG) has filed draft Resource Reports 1 (General Project Description) and 10 (Alternatives) with FERC as part of the pre-filing environmental review process for its proposed liquefaction and LNG export terminal on the west bank of the Calcasieu River near Carlyss, Calcasieu Parish, La. DWLNG’s project will include five liquefaction plants capable of producing up to 26 million tonnes/year of LNG for export, a 96-mile interconnected pipeline, and marine facilities to accommodate three LNG carriers up to 216,000 cubic meters each at the same time. FERC Denies Rehearing of Order Authorizing Lake Charles LNG Export Project

FERC has issued an order denying Sierra Club’s request for rehearing of the order authorizing construction and operation of the Lake Charles LNG export terminal in Calcasieu Parish, La.  FERC denied Sierra Club’s arguments that FERC’s National Environmental Policy Act analysis of the project was flawed because it ignored indirect effects related to: (1) upstream natural gas production; (2) greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including secondary effects resulting from those emissions; and (3) domestic gas-to-coal switching.  FERC also rejected Sierra Club’s assertions that “the cumulative effects...

FERC Releases Update on Review of Alaska LNG Application

FERC has released an update on its pre-filing environmental review of the proposed Alaska LNG project.  Currently, Alaska LNG is reviewing the comments from FERC and other agencies on its first set of draft resource reports (RRs), as well as comments received during scoping, and incorporating them into a second set of draft RRs. Alaska LNG anticipates filing the second set of draft RRs by mid-July 2016. The updated RRs will be reviewed by FERC and other agencies.
