FERC Denies Rehearing of Sabine Pass LNG Terminal Expansion Authorization

FERC has issued an order denying Sierra Club’s request for rehearing of FERC’s order which authorized Cheniere affiliate Sabine Pass Liquefaction to construct its Stage 3 expansion, consisting of the construction of two additional liquefaction trains (Trains 5 and 6) to its LNG export terminal under construction at Cameron Parish, La.  FERC rejected Sierra Club’s arguments that in approving the expansion, FERC should have considered the potential effects of induced gas production, greenhouse gas emissions, and other environmental issues that could be attributed to the expansion, and the project’s effects on domestic natural gas prices.
