Industrial Group Critical of House Report Calling for Increased LNG Exports to Non-FTA Nations

The Industrial Energy Consumers of America (IECA), a nonpartisan association of leading manufacturing companies, issued a statement critical of the white paper released yesterday by the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee that urged DOE to expeditiously approve pending applications to export LNG.  IECA stated that “shipping LNG to countries without a free trade agreement [FTA] with the United States undermines [U.S. manufacturers’] ability to secure a level playing field and reduces the value of existing free trade agreements.” IECA added that non-FTA nations discriminate against U.S. manufacturing goods and provided a chart showing the value of U.S. imports and exports with such countries.
