Kenai LNG Backers Seek Reauthorization of Export License Without Conditions Sought by Alaskan Legislators

On August 17, 2010, ConocoPhillips requested that the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy extend the export license for the Kenai LNG liquefaction facility without the limitations requested by a number of Alaskan state legislators. In its letter to the U.S. Department of Energy, ConocoPhillips argued that existing contractual arrangements “would satisfy substantially all projected local utility natural gas demand through the term of the requested export authorization.” Petroleum News (carried via the Anchorage Daily News) offers additional coverage.
