Broadwater Energy Seeks Extension to Appeal New York State’s Decision on LNG Project

Newsday reports that Broadwater Energy has requested a 30-day extension to appeal New York State’s decision on its LNG project to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. According to the letter requesting the extension, Broadwater is waiting for materials from FERC, which are required to complete its appeal.
Additionally, Newsday reports that FERC has issued an Order Granting Rehearing for Further Consideration of the Broadwater LNG project. A spokesperson with the agency described this as a “procedural order” designed to give FERC “an unlimited time frame to determine if [its] March 20 decision is to stand.” The order is available in the FERC eLibrary under Docket No. CP06-54.
