Quoddy Bay LNG Will Pursue LNG Tanker Access to Head Harbour Passage

Brian Smith, project manager for the Quoddy Bay LNG project proposed for Passamaquoddy Bay, told the Chronicle Herald (Nova Scotia, Canada) that his company’s position regarding LNG tanker traffic remains unchanged despite the possibility that Canada will enact regulations to prohibit LNG tankers from transiting the Head Harbour Passage. Smith claims that “[i]nternational law that Canada is signatory to gives us the right to use Head Harbour Passage for ships heading to United States ports inside the Passamaquoddy Bay.”
