Somerset residents voted to earmark $30,000 from the town’s surplus tax revenue to pay for the legal battle against the pipeline proposal associated with the Weaver’s Cove LNG terminal. According to Somerset Town Administrator John F. McAuliffe, the outcome of Monday’s special meeting will not impact the town’s $25,000 contribution to help Fall River oppose the terminal project. A Fall River city official had expressed concern after Somerset officials considered funding the pipeline opposition using financial support pledged in March to Fall River’s opposition of the Weaver’s Cove terminal.
