Mass. LNG Commission Members Dispute Report

Members of a Massachusetts state commission created to explore LNG siting issues have criticized the panel’s report, saying that it fails to address environmental and safety concerns and supports AES’ proposed Battery Rock LNG terminal without mentioning the three other terminals proposed for the state. Rep. Brian S. Dempsey (D-Haverhill), who sponsored legislation that would permit a developer to build an LNG terminal on Outer Brewster Island, said that the report specifically examined the AES’ proposal for the island because it is presently under Senate review. Despite statements that the report would not be publicly released until today, the Massachusetts legislature posted the report on its website late Friday afternoon.
