Massachusetts House Passes LNG Commission Bill

A Massachusetts bill to establish a commission on LNG siting now awaits the Governor’s signature after unanimous approval by the House yesterday. The legislation, which was approved last month by the Senate, directs the commission to create by June 30 a final report and recommendations on the state’s need for LNG. Rep. David Sullivan, D-Fall River, tried unsuccessfully to include language that would bar an LNG terminal in Fall River. “This is a commonwealth of Massachusetts bill,” Sullivan said. “This is not a bill specifically for Fall River, except Fall River is on the front lines.” Today’s Standard Times has the story.
