Kitimat LNG Announces Receipt of Environmental Certificate

Kitimat LNG announced that it has received a provincial environmental assessment certificate from British Columbia’s Environmental Assessment Office for its proposed project. According to Kitimat, the assessment concluded that the regasification terminal would have no major residual effects, conditioned upon Kitimat adopting a variety of mitigation measures prescribed by the report. The project will also need provincial and federal permits, as well as a decision by the federal Minister of Environment before it can go forward. Kitimat LNG’s press release is here.
