Mass. LNG Commission Hears Competing Views

The Standard-Times provides further details on Monday’s hearing before the Massachusetts special commission on LNG.  Fall River Mayor Edward M. Lambert called the Weaver’s Cove terminal a “ticking time bomb,” while Rep. Eugene O’Flaherty (D-Chelsea) said of the AES Outer Brewster Island proposal, “If not here, where?”  Rep. Robert Correia (D-Fall River) said of the regulatory process, “[T]he federal government has cut our arms and legs off … Part of the process that I’m going through with the committee is to try to find out any leverage that the state has.”  The commission is preparing a report on LNG in the state, which it is expected to release by June 30.
