Concerns Raised Regarding LNG Developers’ Support for Groups Opposing Competing LNG Terminals in Boston

The Coalition for an LNG Solution, describing itself as a group “working with neighborhood groups and residents around Boston Harbor in an effort to eliminate liquefied natural gas tankers from Boston Harbor,” is being criticized for its connections to Regan Communications, the public relations firm hired by AES in connection with the Brewster Island LNG project.  The Boston Globe today reports concern from local activists over “another citizen action group that is actually a front for a major corporation.” Regan Communications, in turn, has accused Distrigas, the operator of the Everett LNG facility in Boston, of funding a website for Save the Brewsters, a group opposing AES’ proposed project.
