Broadwater Provides DNV Report to Coast Guard

In response to the U.S. Coast Guard’s December 21, 2005 request for terminal-specific safety and security analysis, Broadwater today filed a report prepared by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) addressing the Coast Guard’s concerns.  The report describes the larger, future generation LNG vessels and the floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) proposed by Broadwater as “less vulnerable to collision damage than smaller sized LNG carriers,” but indicates that under certain conditions, incidents involving such vessels might result in larger consequence zones.  The report concludes, however, that if the most probable conditions are assumed for Broadwater, then “the Sandia hazard zones can be directly applied to the Broadwater facility.”  The report is available in the FERC eLibrary in Docket No. CP06-54.
