Comments recently were filed with FERC by various entities supporting approval of Jordan Cove Energy Project’s proposed LNG export terminal at Coos Bay, Ore. and the interconnected pipeline. Texas LNG Brownsville Files FERC Application

Texas LNG Brownsville LLC (Texas LNG) has filed an application with FERC for authorization to construct and operate a 4 million tonnes per annum gas liquefaction and LNG export terminal at the Port of Brownsville, Texas.  Feed gas for the terminal will be provided via an approximately 150-mile intrastate pipeline which interconnects with multiple interstate and intrastate pipelines at the Agua Dulce natural gas hub.  Texas LNG plans to commence construction of Phase 1 of the Project in 2017 and to begin LNG production in 2020.  ...

Gail India Purchases Second LNG Shipment from Sabine Pass Terminal

Bloomberg reports that the second shipment of LNG produced at Cheniere Energy Inc.’s Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, La. was purchased on a spot basis by Gail India Ltd.  The shipment is expected to reach the Dabhol import terminal on India’s west coast by mid-April.  According to the report, the delivered price of the cargo is about $5/MMBtu, compared to the $4.30/MMBtu price paid by northeast Asian customers for spot cargoes....

FERC Releases EIS for Golden Pass LNG Export Terminal

FERC has released its environmental impact statement (EIS) for the proposed Golden Pass LNG liquefaction and export terminal on the Sabine-Neches Waterway in Jefferson County, Texas, and the interconnected pipeline.   The EIS concludes that construction of the project would result in some adverse environmental impacts but “those impacts would not be significant with implementation of Golden Pass’s proposed mitigation and the additional measures recommended in the draft EIS.”  The export terminal project is sponsored by affiliates of Qatar Petroleum International and ExxonMobil.  ...

Panama Canal Expansion to Open June 2016

Bloomberg reports that the expansion of the Panama Canal is expected to open June 26, 2016, “almost two years behind schedule.” According to the report, the expansion will accommodate LNG carriers and enable such carriers traveling from the U.S. Gulf Coast to reach Asian markets “more than two weeks faster than they would going east through the Suez Canal.”

Veresen Announces Agreement for Jordan Cove LNG Supplies

Veresen Inc., sponsor of the proposed Jordan Cove Energy Project LNG export terminal at Coos Bay, Ore., announced that it has finalized the key commercial terms with JERA Co., Inc., (JERA) for the purchase by JERA of at least 1.5 million tonnes per annum of natural gas liquefaction capacity for an initial term of 20 years at the Jordan Cove LNG facility.  JERA is a joint venture of Tokyo Electric Power Company, Inc., and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.  The agreement is subject to the execution of a detailed liquefaction tolling agreement and the project obtaining applicable regulatory...

Environmental Assessment for Petronas’ LNG Export Terminal Extended for Three Months

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) has been granted a three month extension to review new information and complete its environmental assessment for the proposed Pacific NorthWest LNG (PNWLNG) export terminal near Lelu Island, British Columbia.  Malaysian state oil company Petronas is the primary sponsor of the proposed project.  The Vancouver Sun reports that the delay was requested by CEAA because of concerns with the project’s effects on eelgrass beds located near the project, which are a habitat for juvenile salmon, and proposed mitigation measures “to avoid or reduce...
