A group of 90 international climate change scientists and climate policy experts has sent a letter to Canada’s Environmental Minister Catherine McKenna requesting that she “reject the proposed Pacific Northwest (PNW) LNG project due its significant adverse environmental effects from greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.” Malaysian state oil company Petronas is the primary sponsor of the project. Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P. (Cheniere Partners) and Bechtel announced that they have achieved Substantial Completion of Train 1 of the Sabine Pass liquefaction and LNG export terminal project in Cameron Parish, La. Corpus Christi Liquefaction, LLC has filed a report with FERC covering through April 2016 construction progress at its liquefaction and LNG export terminal in Corpus Christi, Texas. The reports states that (i) engineering has progressed to 98.0%, (ii) procurement has progressed to 46.9%, (iii) Bechtel’s direct hire construction through April was 5.7%, and (iv) the total Project has progressed to 33.5% complete....

Alaska LNG has filed a report with FERC covering through April 2016 the status of pre-filing environmental review activities for its proposed liquefaction and LNG export terminal at Nikiski, Alaska and 800-mile interconnected pipeline. The report states that due to ongoing pre-Front End Engineering and Design (pre-FEED) and engineering optimization work, the submittal of a final application for the project “is expected to be a minimum of 3 months beyond the original date of September 2016.”...

Fortis Inc. announced today that its subsidiary, Fortis Hawaii Energy Inc., entered into an agreement to supply Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc. with 800,000 metric tons/year of LNG over 20-years from FortisBC’s Tilbury LNG facility in Delta, British Columbia, starting in 2021.
