Pacific Business News reports that Hawaii Electric has terminated its contract for LNG supplies from Fortis Hawaii Energy Inc. The deal was contingent on Hawaii Public Utilities Commission approval of NextEra’s acquisition of Hawaii Electric, which was denied last week.

LNG World Shipping reports that the first large LNG carrier to pass through the expanded Panama Canal will be the Shell-chartered Maran Gas Apollonia carrying an LNG cargo loaded at Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, La. The cargo is expected to pass through the canal from the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans on Monday. The destination of the cargo was not disclosed....

Sempra Energy announced that Cameron LNG has received authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to export an additional 1.41Bcf/day of LNG from its proposed liquefaction and LNG export terminal expansion project in Cameron Parish, La. to countries without a Free Trade Agreement (non-FTA) with the United States. The order increases Cameron LNG’s authorized export capacity to 24.92 million tons per annum or 3.53 Bcf/day....

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit has issued an opinion remanding to FERC for further explanation how FERC’s orders, which permitted Statoil Natural Gas, but not BP Energy, to turn back certain capacity held on Dominion Cove Point LNG’s system, were not unduly discriminatory as to BP Energy under the Natural Gas Act.

Circuit has issued an opinion rejecting EarthReports’, Sierra Club’s and the Chesapeake Climate Action Network’s joint appeal of FERC’s orders, which authorized construction and operation of the Dominion Cove Point LNG export terminal at Lusby, Md.
