Coast Guard and Navy Reach Agreement on Weaver’s Cove LNG

The U.S. Coast Guard sent a letter today to the U.S. Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division in Newport, Rhode Island, memorializing language agreed to by the Coast Guard and the Navy, which is intended to allay the concerns the Navy expressed in its late motion to intervene in the Weaver’s Cove LNG terminal proceeding at FERC.  The language is to be included in the Coast Guard’s Letter of Recommendation for Weaver’s Cove, if and when it issues.  The language gives the Navy the authority to conduct its operations unimpeded by LNG vessel transits, and grants the Coast Guard the authority to alter the location of operations in order to ensure safety.  The letter can be found in Docket No. CP04-36 on the FERC website
