FERC Decision on Jordan Cove LNG Project Delayed
The Oregonian reports that on February 20, 2020, FERC Chairman and Commissioners voted 2-1 against approving the proposed Jordan Cove Energy Project liquefaction and LNG export terminal in Coos Bay, Ore., citing the need for more time to review Oregon permit denials for the project. According to the report, on February 19, 2020, the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) denied a permit for the proposed project finding that “the terminal and its 230-mile feeder pipeline would have significant adverse effects on the state’s coastal scenic and aesthetic resources, endangered species, critical habitat, fisheries and commercial shipping.” FERC Commissioners said they will revisit the subject after reviewing the DLCD’s decision. The state has now denied three key permits for the project.
