Shell Terminates Proposed Prince Rupert LNG Project

The Globe and Mail reports that Royal Dutch Shell PLC has “officially shelved” its plans to build the Prince Rupert LNG export project at Ridley Island, British Columbia (BC).  The article reports that Shell will continue advancing the proposed LNG Canada export terminal at Kitimat, BC.  LNG Canada is a joint venture comprised of Shell Canada, PetroChina Co. Ltd., Korea Gas Corp. and Mitsubishi Corp.  A final investment decision has not been made for the LNG Canada project, but is expected in “a few quarters.”
