FERC Authorizes Excelerate’s Aguirre LNG Import Terminal for Offshore Puerto Rico

FERC has issued an order authorizing Excelerate Energy subsidiary Aguirre Offshore GasPort, LLC to construct and operate an LNG import terminal along the southern shore of Puerto Rico, near the municipality of Salinas.  The Aguirre LNG Project is being developed in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) to provide natural gas as an alternative energy supply for PREPA’s existing Aguirre Power Complex in Salinas, Puerto Rico, which currently operates using fuel oil to generate electricity.
