Senate Committee Holds Hearing on Bill to Expedite U.S. LNG Exports

Yesterday, the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources held a hearing on S. 33, the LNG Permitting Certainty and Transparency Act, which among other things, directs the Secretary of Energy, for proposals that must also obtain authorization from FERC or the U.S. Maritime Administration to site, construct, expand, or operate LNG facilities, to issue a decision on an LNG export application within 45 days after the later of: (1) the conclusion of the review to site, construct, expand, or operate the LNG facilities required by the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969; or (2) the date of enactment of the Act.
