FERC Releases DEIS for the Aguirre Offshore GasPort Project
FERC Staff has released the draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) for the proposed Aguirre Offshore GasPort Project, which involves construction of an offshore LNG import terminal near the towns of Salinas and Guayama, Puerto Rico and an interconnected pipeline to provide gas supplies for the existing Aguirre Power Complex in Salinas. The DEIS concludes that construction and operation of the project would result in limited adverse environmental impacts that would mostly occur during construction and that approval of the project would have moderate adverse environmental impacts, but these impacts would be reduced to less-than significant levels if the 65 mitigation measures recommended in the DEIS are implemented. Public comments on the DEIS are due September 29, 2014.
