DOE Proposal Upends Process for Authorizing LNG Exports

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued a Notice of Proposed Procedures (NPP) for LNG export decisions, outlining proposed changes to the way LNG export permits will be issued.  The DOE is proposing to act on applications to export LNG only after a full environmental review under the National Environmental Policy Act is complete.  This would suspend the DOE’s practice of issuing conditional decisions to non-Free Trade Agreement countries.  The NPP can be found here.  Interested parties can comment on the NPP before July 21, 2014.
