FERC Releases EIS for Freeport LNG Project
On Monday, FERC released a final environmental impact statement (EIS) for two proposals related to Freeport LNG’s operations on Quintana Island, Texas. The proposals included modifications to previously authorized, but not yet constructed, facilities and a proposal for new facilities. Staff concluded that the projects would result in mostly temporary and short-term environmental impacts and that the projects would be in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, with appropriate mitigation and Staff’s recommendations. Additionally, Staff concluded that with the mitigations and recommendations, the projects would result in some adverse environmental impacts, but that these would not be significant except for the traffic and noise impacts on the residents of the Town of Quintana during construction.
