Freeport LNG CEO Disappointed with DOE Order

UPI reports that Freeport LNG Chief Executive Officer Michael Smith said he was disappointed with the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) recent approval of Freeport’s application to export additional LNG from its proposed LNG export terminal on Quintana Island, Texas to nations without a Free Trade Agreement with the United States.  Freeport had requested authority to export an additional 1.8 Bcf but DOE approved only 0.4 Bcf based on the liquefaction capacity of the proposed terminal.  According to the article, Smith stated he was frustrated with the lack of disclosure of the decision making process behind DOE’s ruling.
