DOE Gives Preliminary Approval for LNG Exports from the Lake Charles Terminal to Non-FTA Nations

Today, the U.S. Department of Energy issued an order conditionally approving Lake Charles Exports, LLC’s application to export domestically produced LNG by vessel from Trunkline LNG’s proposed LNG export terminal at Lake Charles, La. to nations that have not entered into a free trade agreement (FTA) with the United States providing for national treatment of natural gas trades. The export authorization is conditioned on FERC’s satisfactory environmental review of the LNG export terminal project. DOE will make a final decision once the environmental review process is completed. Read more in the press release.
