FERC Vacates Authority for Freeport-McMoRan Pipeline Connecting Main Pass Energy Hub LNG Port

Today, FERC issued an order vacating authority for Freeport-McMoRan Energy, LLC (Freeport-McMoRan) to construct and operate 5.1 miles of 36-inch-diameter pipeline for the purpose of connecting Freeport-McMoRan’s proposed Main Pass Energy Hub deepwater LNG port facility in the Gulf of Mexico to an existing interstate pipeline hub at Coden, Ala. FERC required the pipeline to be in service by May 2012 and since the pipeline has not been constructed, the authorization has lapsed. Copies of the order can be accessed here, and the complete docket for the pipeline project can be found on eLibrary by searching for Docket No. CP04-68.
