New Report Concludes LNG Exports to Have Modest Impact on Domestic Gas Prices

A new report from the Bipartisan Policy Center finds that the United States has ample natural gas supplies to meet future demand for natural gas without significant price increases and that U.S. LNG exports will have only a modest impact on domestic gas prices. The report also concludes that domestic gas prices will influence LNG export levels far more than LNG exports will influence domestic prices. The report projects that the United States will become a net exporter of natural gas between 2017 and 2021 in all of the modeled scenarios.
