House Republicans Press DOE on LNG Export Timetable

Energy Law360 reports that at a House Oversight Committee hearing held yesterday, several Republican U.S. Representatives urged the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to approve pending LNG export applications and criticized DOE Acting Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy Chris Smith for failing to provide a timetable for DOE’s consideration of such applications. Smith responded that DOE is reviewing the comments filed on the NERA LNG export study and that DOE must consider the overall public interest before proceeding to review the export applications. Testimony from the hearing can be found here.
