Oregon Congressman Seeks to Limit Use of Eminent Domain for LNG Export Projects

United States Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) has introduced H.R. 3913, a bill that would amend the Natural Gas Act to prohibit the use of eminent domain by a pipeline developer if its pipeline would be used to transport natural gas “to an LNG terminal for export to a foreign country from the United States.” The bill also would prohibit FERC from authorizing an LNG export project if any of the natural gas pipelines connected to that facility was constructed through the use of eminent domain. The World (Coos Bay, Ore.) provides additional coverage.
