New Design for Offshore Natural Gas Pipelines Could Compete with FLNG Proposals

Norwegian engineering firm DNV has announced advanced designs for offshore natural gas pipelines that could compete with floating LNG liquefaction projects, so-called FLNG projects. According to World Gas Intelligence, the new design thins the pipeline’s walls by 25-30% compared with traditional designs for extreme underwater depths, allowing the pipelines to compete with FLNG projects to monetize gas deposits located far offshore.
