The Hindu reports that the Empowered Group, an Indian government committee, has concluded that U.S. LNG supplies are cheaper and stable compared to other potential supply options. According to the news report, the committee approved the purchase by GAIL India of two million metric tons of LNG per year for twenty years from Macquarie Energy via the Freeport LNG terminal.
