LNG Export Permit for Kenai LNG Extended Without Requirement to Meet Local Demand

The U.S. Department of Energy has approved an extension of the permit allowing LNG export from the Kenai liquefaction facility. The order granting the extension is not conditioned on meeting local natural gas demand as requested by Alaskan lawmakers, but the Alaska Journal of Commerce reports that Kenai LNG partners ConocoPhillips and Marathon Oil already have acted to ensure that local gas needs are met.
