Directors of the Newport County, R.I., Chamber of Commerce unanimously voted this week to object to the planned Weaver’s Cove LNG import project. The Providence Journal reports that the vote was based on economic research findings that suggest the Weaver’s Cove LNG facility could have a negative impact on the local businesses in the hospitality, marine trades, and defense industries.
