The U.S. Army of Corps of Engineers has begun to evaluate widening the Bayou Casotte ship channel. A representative for Gulf LNG said that although the ship channel at present is sufficient for the terminal’s anticipated needs, a wider channel may permit two-way ship traffic, night transits, and operation in high wind conditions.
