Nigerian LNG Exports to U.S. Market Could Affect Prices This Winter

Reuters (carried via Forbes) reports that increased LNG exports from Nigeria LNG to the Atlantic Basin are likely to find their way to U.S. destinations, driving gas prices down in North America. Nikos Tsafos, an analyst with PFC Energy, suggests that, although the Atlantic Basin gas market has been relatively balanced in the last year, that balance was mainly due to a shut-in of Nigeria LNG’s exports caused by political instability. Additional LNG supplies coming into the Atlantic Basin market could provide downward price pressure for North American natural gas.
