Canadian Municipality Required to Pay More Than $1M for Site of Maple LNG Project
The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board determined this week that an individual landowner who owns property that would be used to build the proposed Maple LNG project, as well as serve as the point where an offshore gas pipeline comes ashore, should have been paid more than $1 million when his land was appropriated by the local government for the energy projects. Previously, the Municipality of the District of Guysborough agreed to pay the land owner $435,000 for the 200-acre plot of land along the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia. In response to the land owner’s appeal of the amount, the Utility and Review Board determined that the land owner is entitled to $1.34 million in total compensation for the property.
