New Brunswick, Maine Announce ‘Energy Corridor’

Fueled by a plan from Irving Oil to develop a 1,500 MW electric transmission line from New Brunswick to the New England States, yesterday New Brunswick Premiere Shawn Graham and Maine Governor John Baldacci (D) announced the creation of a cross-border “energy corridor,” that will consist of new generation and transmission capacity. Jeff Matthews, Irving’s Director of Business Development, noted specifically that power generation and LNG, through the Canaport LNG terminal, have become a major component of his company’s portfolio.  Read more in the Chronicle Herald (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and the Telegraph-Journal (Saint John, New Brunswick).
