Consultant: Proposed Alaskan Gas Pipeline Should Prompt Canadian LNG Export Project

Ralph Glass, vice president of operations with AJM Petroleum Consultants, told the Calgary Herald that he believes the proposed natural gas pipeline to transport Alaskan gas to markets in the Continental United States should encourage Canadian efforts to build LNG export capacity, such as the Kitimat LNG liquefaction project. Glass noted that Canadian gas producers “need to reduce our dependency on the U.S. as the primary market for our natural gas and now is the time to begin planning, rather than waiting for the effects of the pipeline to force us into action.”
