TORP Withdraws Bienville LNG Deepwater Port Application

TORP announced yesterday that it is withdrawing its application to construct the Bienville LNG Deepwater Port terminal off the coast of Alabama after Governor Bob Riley (R) expressed concern about the environmental impacts of the project’s open loop vaporization system. It is unclear at this time whether TORP will resubmit its application with measures to address Governor Riley’s environmental concerns, such as redesigning its project to employ a closed loop vaporization system, as Freeport McMoRan did when it faced similar opposition to the Main Pass Energy Hub proposal.
