Bradwood Landing LNG Project Developers Respond to Referendum

The Daily Astorian provides coverage of LNG terminal developer NorthernStar Natural Gas Co.’s reactions to Clatsop County’s referendum banning natural gas pipelines from crossing park lands. According to the newspaper, NorthernStar officials claim that the referendum, which would affect a planned route for a pipeline associated with the terminal, has “no meaningful impact” on their permit application process, arguing that the county’s actions are preempted by federal law.

Separately, a Bradwood Landing LNG opposition group, Columbia Riverkeeper, filed a letter with FERC yesterday urging the Commission to consider the results of the recent referendum in deciding whether or not to grant conditional approval for the project. The letter is available in the FERC eLibrary under Docket No. CP06-365.
