USCG Finds “No Significant Impact” for Cove Point LNG Expansion

Today’s Federal Register announces the availability of the U.S. Coast Guard’s “Final Supplemental Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact” for the Cove Point LNG terminal expansion project. The Supplemental EA emphasizes Cove Point’s “proven framework of operating conditions” as an existing import terminal and states that the Coast Guard’s preferred action is to issue a positive Letter of Recommendation (LOR) for the project with conditions to ensure that the “waterway is suitable, safe, and environmentally sound for the increased LNG vessel traffic.” The Supplemental EA is available on Regulations.gov under Docket No. USCG-2008-0035.
