U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez sustained the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) objections of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to the Weaver’s Cove LNG terminal proposal. Gutierrez concluded in the decision that “[a]lthough the [Weaver’s Cove LNG] Project furthers the national interest in a significant and substantial manner, the national interest furthered by the Project does not outweigh the Project’s adverse coastal effects.”
