Proposed Rabaska LNG Project Receives Canadian Federal Approval

Rabaska Inc., a joint venture of Gaz de France, Enbridge Inc. and Gaz Metro, announced yesterday that the Canadian federal government approved its proposal to build the Rabaska LNG import terminal in Quebec. The Montreal Gazette reports that federal officials would not verify the announcement at first, but did so later, citing a cabinet order-in-council granting approval. The Gazette also reports that opponents of the project intend to continue their efforts against the project.
