Onshore Gas Discovery Could Lessen U.S. Demand for LNG

Aubrey McClendon, CEO of Chesapeake Energy, told Platts LNG Daily that he believes that Chesapeake’s large natural gas discovery in northern Louisiana could lessen demand for LNG imports to the United States. However, McClendon notes that an oversupply of the U.S. gas market is unlikely due in part to the anticipated strong demand for natural gas from electricity generators. [Subscription required]
