Texas Gas Storage Facility Approved by FERC

FERC has approved a 12 Bcf gas storage facility called Golden Triangle, which Platts LNG Daily suggests could have implications for LNG. As designed, the project will have 12 Bcf storage capacity in two salt caverns but could be expanded to hold up to 16 Bcf of natural gas in each cavern. According to Platts LNG Daily [subscription required], commercial operations should begin in 2010 or early 2011, though the second cavern will not come online until 2013. The FERC certificate is available in its eLibrary under Docket No. CP07-414.
