Op-Ed: Energy Policy Needed to Curb Increasing Natural Gas Rates

An opinion article in the Democrat Herald (Albany, Ore.) notes that local retail natural gas rates have increased sharply and adds that although LNG could bring additional supply to the area, it takes several years to get an LNG terminal approved and then additional years to build it. The editorial cites the proposed Bradwood Landing LNG project as an example, arguing that even if the project is issued permits this year, the soonest it could operate would be in 2012.
